League Champs 10/14 - Boys and Girls Varsity 2nd place finishes were very good considering we were missing 2 boys and 1 girl form our top 5. Matt Pearson and Brooke Washburn filled in nicely. Congrats to Shannon, Allison, Mackenna, Chris, Luke, and Bailey for their all-league honors. JV Boys also had a 2nd place finish led by Sam Martin and Augustus Ballantine. JV girls had solid performances from Clara Drazek and Lauren McCaffrey as the Open boys were led by Emre Diker and Clara Drazek led the girls.
Regional Champs 10/23 - Congrats to the Boys and Girls as we qualified for the 5A State Championships. Our girls earned a 5th place finish behind Shannon's 4th place finish and new school record. We came up a little short of our goal of 2nd place. Let's bounce back next week at State and finish with our best effort of the year. The boys 3rd place finish was led by Chris 8th and Luke 15th. It was a good performance, but also came up a little short of our goal of 2nd place by 3 points. Rampart out battled us the last mile and did what great teams do when their missing their top runner. We need to step it up a notch this week. This week more than ever, both teams need to have our best 1-5 gap time of the season. Let's finish the season with our best effort!

Windjammer Invite - Overall our Teams did a good job stepping up as our top 7 rested this week. The Boys Varsity got solid races from Matt, Kyle and Sam. The 28 sec gap between our 1-5 runners was awesome! Saket and Alex ran great races as well. The Girls were led by Lila and Clara K, who ran solid races. Claire Green came up with her best race of the year.
League Championships - This Wednesday will be the last race for all but our top 10 runners. For those runners, let's finish with the best race of of the season! Our goal as a team is to finish in the top 2 in each of the races. The top 21 runners in the Varsity races will earn All League Honors. The top 14 runners in the JV and Open races will receive individual awards. Let's try to garner as many awards as possible. Awards Night - Our Awards Night will be held Friday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 pm at the Sheraton DTC. More info to come. SaberCat Recap - Our Boys Varsity and JV performed well again by earning 2nd place finishes behind a powerful Mt Vista squad. We will have another opportunity at league to try to close the gap a little on the state's top program. Our Varsity 1-5 gap got a little better this week at 49 sec. Our goal for league will be closer to 30 sec. Luke and Bailey closed the 1-3 gap, however we know we need 2 more guys to run closer to them. As a frosh, Ben is carrying quite a load as 5th man. We need our upperclassmen to preform better the rest of the season if we expect to meet our league/regional/state goals. The Boys JV gap of 15 sec was awesome! You will be our Varsity at Windjammer and a gap like that could get us an award. Our Varsity Girls ran a solid 4th without a full squad. Shannon and Allison are a giving us a great 1-2 punch! We need our 3-5 ladies to step over the next few weeks so we can meet our post season goals. Our JV girls earned a 5th place finish with a solid performance.
Windjammer UP Next - What is usually a fast course should be an opptoetunity for JV athletes to earn a PR! Come mentally prepared to take advantage of this. Quote of the week: " Being a successful athlete = Sacrifice and Dedication" |
