Pat Patten: We had another week of outstanding performances. On the Boys side our Varsity's 2nd place was a solid effort against teams like Boulder, Monarch and Fossil Ridge. Chris Theodore puts in another great race as Luke Dickinson, Bryce Vrabel, and Frosh surprise Ben Brown ran awesome! The Boys JV edged Monarch by 3 points is an exciting battle, with Andrew Steavpack and Kyle Franklin leading the way. The Girls Varsity finished 7th with Shannon Osoba running another outstanding race! Allison Janedis, Kailey Rex and Anna VanHercke ran solid races. The JV Girls were 6th led by Nicole Giampietro and Lauren McCaffery.

NXN MEET PHOENIX - Soon we will be handing out invitations to our top athletes to compete at the Nike Southwest meet in Phoenix Nov. 20-22.
Rock Canyon Invite Recap -Overall we had a good day at our Home Invite. This is important because our home course is the site of our Regional Championships (Oct 23), this year. We need to take advantage of the home course just as the Colorado Springs schools do when they run Monument Valley each year. The Boys Varsity came back with a stronger performance this week, with our top 4 running really well. As we know, CC is a team sport we need 5 or more to run well each week. Chris and Bailey came up with solid races! The Girls Varsity ran one of their better races of the year. Shannon and Kailey had strong performances. We need to work on closing the gap between our 1-5 runners. On the JV side, the Boys came out on top for the 2nd week in a row with another great team performance! Our 1-5 runners were 38 sec apart. A gap of 30 - 45 sec, or less is what we should shoot for every meet. AJ, Ben, Brandon, and Sam B had some strong performances. On the Girls Side, our 5th place was a good showing. Clara K, Brooke, and Lauren came up with great efforts. To paraphrase Coach Lind, " Let's be over achievers every week, and not settle for mediocrity."
Liberty Bell Recap - We came away from Liberty Bell with some mixed results. Our Boys B team performance was the highlight of the day. The time spread between our 1-5 runners (30 sec), was outstanding! On the Varsity side, our boys got a great effort form our #1 runner, but 2-7 we're a little too far back in this level of competition to be competitive. Being able to compete with the Arapahoe''s, FT Collins, Monarch's and Boulder's, will require us to close that 1-5 gap. Something we're definitely capable of. Our Girls Varsity made a nice jump to Division 1. For the Girls, getting our 3,4,5 runners closer to our number 2 is one of our main goals. Our JV runners need to continue to work hard and push the Varsity runners. Let's keep challenging each other to be better every week!
RCHS Invite - Our Invite this year will be one of the most competitive ever. On the Boys side, Arapahoe, Rampart, Legend and even a Mt VIsta B squad will bring some great competition. For the Girls, Cherokee Trail, Pine Creek, and Mt Vista will bring some top notch teams to the field. Homecoming Week - There will be a lot going on this week so make sure you don't stretch yourself too thin. We want you to have fun, but also understand that activities such as Powder Puff Football increase your risk of injury, therfeore we highly discourage Varsity athletes from participating in events like these. Enjoy the week, but remember your commitment to your CC teammates. Schedule for the Week; Monday - 3:10 RCHS - Tempo or Repeats - Weights or Core Tuesday - 3:10 RCHS - Road Run Heels/Toe Walks Wednesday - 3:10 RCHS - Repeats - Weights/Core Thursday - 3:10 RCHS - Road Run - Team Feed Friday - 3:10 RCHS - Easy Run - Strides Saturday - 8:00 an RCHS Invite Sunday - Optional Run Quote of the Week: " To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" Steve Prefontaine Arapahoe Review: Great job at Arapahoe Friday! Considering we were missing some of our top runners, the overall results were positive. Some of you stepped up and did a nice job of filling in for your injured/ill teammates. Putting the team first, is our number one goal. Those who continue to race well are working hard and are consistent in their training. It's not surprising that they also coming to practices and races with the "intrinsic" motivation needed for success!
Goal Setting: Make sure you take time to reflect on your last race and then set a goal for this week's Liberty Bell. Coach T took time out of her busy schedule to put these together, so let's honor her commitment by keeping these up to date. Training: I've been very impressed by the hard work many of you have been putting in. Our boys doing 2 a days have been very dedicated! This commitment is starting to pay dividends and will pay off as the season progresses. Liberty Bell: This year we are moving up to Division 1. This will be a great challenge for us and we need to be ready to take the next step Friday. I will post the 7 Varsity and 7 B Team members soon. Everyone else will compete in the C race. Schedule for the Week: Monday - Run on own Tuesday - 3:10 - RCHS - Road Run - Heel/Toe Walks Wednesday - 3:10 - RCHS - Repeats - Weights/Core Thursday - 3:10 - RCHS - Road Run/Pre Race - Strides Friday - 3:30 - Liberty Bell Invitational Saturday - 8:00 am - Carson Nature Center/Aspen Grove (Panera After) Sunday - Optional Lets' keep up the hard work Jags! |
